The Suns started the season with high expectations primarily driven by the presence of some of the top hitting prospects in the organization. Chris Marrero, Justin Maxwell, Stephen King, and Mike Daniel all started off their season with Hagerstown but a lack of consistent pitching and terrible defense put the Suns in an early hole they never seemed to recover from. And to compound the struggles, Hagerstown lost the core of their offense in one fell swoop when Marrero, Maxwell, Daniel, and Brett McMillan were all promoted to Potomac on the same day (June 4th) forcing manager Tommy Herr to have to make do with a patchwork lineup.

The Harrisburg Senators returned home from a rocky road trip to the friendly confines of Commerce Bank Park and got back in the win column with another come-from-behind victory, a 5-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox affiliate). (more…)

Press, Baltimore supporters, and Phillies fans will try to portray recent results in the desert as defeat for the Nationals. Opponents will say we lost two of three, got schooled by former ace starter, dropped a game away from .500 and lost a game on Florida.

Item! The Nationals signed the McGeary kid, who will now become a professional baseball player in the Nationals organization instead of going to college. Yay victory of sports over education! So. Lesson learned. If you’re pitching to the Nats, and it’s the ninth inning, and Manny Acta has just put on a turban and grabbed a crowbar and started to open the old wooden box marked "9906753," then you need to shut your eyes and keep them shut no matter what until the ballpark is silent again.
